I'm really rusty with ye olde Redwall lore but wasn't Redwall Abbey re-built atop the ruins of Kotir after it sank?
I'm asking cuz I'm really fascinated from that long patrol abridged (& I think mentioned in that redwall mobile app I forget) of an eel and the gloomer and water/waterfall and being underground (nearby?) Redwall, and wonder if it was ever explored in the series about Redwall being built and/or Kotir's ruins or the like?

My sword ain't much more shiny than yours, but I'm pretty sure that Redwall was built nearby Kotir rather than directly on the site. At least, that is the impression I got from "Legend of Luke", where they are actually starting to build the place. They gathered the sandstone from the Quarry that features prominently in "Redwall" itself, and build it on a site not far from where Kotir sank. I thought in some chronologies the lake is still there, actually. Though I do remember that line from Short Patrol, and from "Long Patrol" itself about Kotir being beneath Redwall's walls, so either I'm misremembering Legend of Luke or the fortress merely moved a couple klicks beneath the mud. This really seems like a LordTBT kind of question.

In my own imagination, Redwall was build not that close to where Kotir sank (which made the start of Forsaken Fortress seem odd to me as I imagined it being a good walk away at least). I know this isn't how it is though. So, a little wiki search, and the entry for Kotir says this:
How I see that is that Redwall borders on the south to part of where Kotir once stood, with the remnant of the lake water being the pond. Sounds like Kotir was much more sizeable too so perhaps they underestimated how far the ruins had reached
I don't know, I find the timeline difficult to imagine for Redwall, even more so than scale (when I look at a map, the world seems much smaller than I always imagine it to be. Like, I always thought Salamandastron was much more remote and far from Redwall as well). Everything seems both so far in the past and so far apart and yet at another time it's like events happened not that long ago from the whatever book's present or in quick succession. There aren't any actual years to go off, are there? That would help tremendously

It was. redwall.fandom.com/wiki/KotirKotir comes up again briefly in The Sable Quean. Some construction of Redwall Abbey occurs in The Legend of Luke.
