Hey, sorry to bother you all, just a quick question when role playing with multiple people. How important is the turn order? Like for example between 3 people (A, B, and C) the pattern would be ABC ABC (repeating). However, what if one person isn’t as active (in this case, B will be inactive). Are we still forced to the usual ABC or can we break turn order such as ABC ACA CBA etc
sorry if this has been addressed before, I didn’t see it anywhere else so I though I’d ask

Forgive any typos, replying on my phone while I'm on lunch break!
Generally DAB is a bit slower paced, as a large part of our user base has aged with the site, but active folks try to check in a couple times a week! If it's been about that long and person B in this example hasn't replied yet, ita generally okay to skip them and let them catch up when they're able. However, unless the person is really inactive (perhaps hasn't checked in for a month or so) try not to skip them twice, since that can make it sort of difficult for them to write a reply. Though, a person can opt to grant everyone permission to have everyone skip them for a few rounds; if I know I won't have time for a while, I can let you all know to skip me however many times you need and I'll catch up when I'm free.
The only time I would advise against skipping a turn is if it is a RP with the 'Quest' tag, since those are more involved and plot heavy, being lead by the person who created the thread. In the case of those, I would say to avoid skipping the person who started the thread, to avoid presenting them with plot hiccups! Though currently we don't have an active quest RP, so that is less of a worry.

With all that being said, how will we know when we have all the active members in a roleplay? For example, in Torn Asunder (The one I joined) there's currently 4 of us; is there any way to check if anyone else intends to join or a maximum amount of role players for each event like that? Sorry if my wording is a bit weird, never was good at explaining myself. Like for example, lets say there's 4 people (A, B, C, and D). A, B, C, and D have all made a message, how will we know if we go back to person A, or if a new person will come as letter E?

Hey Cog~
Short answer, we often don’t know if someone is joining a new RP. I was definitely waiting for Crys, because I have her other socials and she already told me she was gonna post XD Now that there are 4 of us in Torn Asunder I’m probably going to make the next post within another day! 4 players is pretty good for DAB.

Also, it isn't an issue currently, but I'd like to make mention of it here in case we have anyone new join in the future with similar questions: If you want to join an already ongoing RP that has been going for a while, that's fine! If that is the case, try to find a way that makes sense to bring in your character, or perhaps message someone else in the RP to try to figure out a way to work with them to create an opening for you. For example, if Aqua, Zeke, and Otus have an RP going that already has 20 posts, ita hard for me to say that my character was there the whole time. Instead, perhaps my character was inside and comes out to see what all the noise was about, or if I know Zeke is up in the rotation, I would message him to give me a bit of an opening. The only time an RP isn't open to join is if it's marked as completed, if it's archived (Though those are generally locked), or if it's tagged as what we call a Duel. Duels are two person RPs; either you create one and leave it open for someone to take the second spot, or you can ask someone if they'd like to do one with you and save the second spot for them! Typically the duo taking part in a Duel will make their names or nicknames in the thread title, once the spots are accounted for. (Example: Zeke and I have our Duel RP, and the thread title is 'Sospital [DUEL] [Zeke/Crys]', or one with an open slot may be titled something like 'Spooky Time [DUEL] [Otus/???]' until someone takes the spot.) Edit: Also, thank you for asking! I'm quietly working on some revisions and updates to old FAQs, so it's nice knowing exactly what sorts of things may need fleshed out!
