I was listening to some Redwall Audiobook songs on Youtube, and I was wondering what some of y'all's favorite songs are. From a book? Are you partial to a specific audio book version? Is there a Redwall inspired song you like? Personally, I'm partial to If You Dare from The Long Patrol.

I love the audiobooks, and their songs are one of the reasons! Several of my favorites are from Taggerung, although maybe it's just on my mind since I just listened to it. (*mumbles something about getting a book club post up*) I love the song near the end when they're singing Deyna home, and Boorab's silly songs ("The Ballad of the Brainy Duck" and "The Battle of the Boiling Water" come to mind) are a ton of fun. "Winter O" from Mariel is another good one. I remember one from Triss about Redwall that I always liked too, although I wasn't able to find it online. Shoutout to the voice actor for Scarum in that book, too -- the education song is quite the tongue twister and it's very well executed.
I tended to skip over the songs when I was reading the books as a kid since the plot was so much more exciting. I appreciate the songs a lot more now. A lot of them are a joy to read even without the music, and hearing them sung makes them all the better.

Thanks for linking the channel, Isaiah, I didn't think of trying to look up the songs on YouTube. I just wish the playlists were categorized by book, they are a bit harder to look up by genre. I am on the same raft as Aqua, I often skimmed through the songs as kid to keep the narrative going. But now being able to hear how they are supposed to sound, I often find myself rewinding to listen to them again. Similarly, I used to regret seeing a mole character come into the story because I it was too much work to decipher what they were saying (why'd you have to come, Dinny!), but being able to actually hear how the accent sounds makes it a pleasure to hear. I'd also put out "Battle of Boiling Water" as my favorite song from Taggerung, Tarquin had a nice voice and it had a good martial beat and theme. I tend to like the solo performances more than the group ballads, though the latter tend to have great sea shanties. I had to choose a second from recent memory, "Gates of Spring" from Outcast of Redwall, is also very well done, and it made me appreciate Skarlath more.

Celebes, it's boorab! not Tarquin! anyway, I like the songs that appear every book in Rakkety Tam mainly because their highland accent. I also like the songs sung by laird bosie for the same reason. I also like the skelping song sung by Cregga badgermum because it got me thinking what is skelping anyway?

Late to the party, but couldn't resist throwing in my two cents. I've always loved the audiobooks and there are so many songs I really like from them. Re: the Martin song that Isaiah linked above, that was also one of my favorites as a kid. My best friend in early elementary school had only read Mossflower and I remember she really loved Tsarmina, so I have vivid memories of shout-singing that song at her just to annoy her XD Also, Eulalia was the first audiobook I ever listened to. I really liked a couple from that book, especially this one. It's really beautiful. Actually, as I sit here trying to write this post, I realize there's at least 10-15 songs that I really like, but I can't recall the names/which books they're actually from. That's the problem of listening to the audiobooks repetitively for so many years in a row..
