My first attempt at a song playlist that represents Isaiah's character, from beginning to end. I could probably spend a long time making changes to this, but I'm fairly happy with it right now. Once I've fleshed out Lily's character I may attempt one of these for her. Hopefully I don't shutdown the site with my poor music taste and cheesy sentimentality, but here's Isaiah's character playlist for all to see:

"Shine a Light" – Wolf Parade
This first song could be true to Isaiah's character at any point in his life. However, I think it's most emblematic of his dibbun years. As a dibbun, he took to the ideals behind DAB instantly, most nights spent wide awake and scheming. Life is boring, and Isaiah is always restless, constantly looking to create excitement anywhere and anyhow. He just needs something to get his heart beating, something to occupy himself. Isaiah is never more restless than during his dibbun days, when he is left to his own devices as a young, spirited member of DAB.
"What About Us" – P!nk
Let the angst begin. Isaiah isn't one to be in touch with his own emotions, and it takes a very long time for him to even admit he has any. That doesn't mean there isn't something boiling just beneath the surface from a very early age. Trey, Isaiah's father, abandoned his family shortly after Isaiah was born, for no good reason as far as the young dibbun was concerned. He never let it show, but the event did affect Isaiah. There was always a voice in the back of his mind wondering why Trey left, even long after his passing. What about his family?
"Hopeless Wanderer" – Mumford & Sons
Partly due to restlessness, and partly due to an unhealthy desire to avoid confrontation with his mother after Trey's passing, Isaiah took to roaming Mossflower Woods. He had no destination, he was simply wandering. There were a lot of ups and downs during this time, Isaiah always trudging on in a desperate attempt to put as much space between him and the Abbey as possible, looking for some sort of comfort among the traveling. Season after season...
"Where is My Mind?" – Pixies
Rika–Isaiah's mother–passes away, and Isaiah returns to Redwall immediately after receiving the news. This event rocks Isaiah to his core, sending him into a spiraling depression. For the first time, Isaiah is forced to confront his own feelings, and that he never was able to resolve them while his parents were alive. It's all too much for Isaiah to bear, and instead he shuts down. Confined to a single dorm in the Abbey, Isaiah is unsure how to carry on, he's not sure if he can.
"It Gets Better" – Dotan
Time passes, the pain doesn't heal, but Isaiah has had time to do a modicum of introspection. His mind is weighed down by regret and self-loathing, a wish to turn back time and do it all over. But such a thought is hopeless. More time passes, but the pain remains, it doesn't get better. Isaiah becomes a recluse, still living at Redwall Abbey, but spending his days either locked in his dorm or walking in the woods. The Elders say time heals all, but it's not getting better.
"Little Wonders" – Rob Thomas
An adventure in the woods with an old friend, and an epiphany: it's still possible to enjoy life. Maybe, just maybe, it's possible to accept the mistakes both Isaiah and his parents made. That day, a few small hours out in the woods, changed Isaiah's life.
"The Future Has Arrived" – The All-American Rejects
Isaiah sets out traveling once again, this time with a renewed sense of self. Without the looming angst of his parents hanging over him, Isaiah is able to truly enjoy his travels and even dares himself to explore beyond the confines of Mossflower Woods. This is the prime of Isaiah's life, when his most memorable adventures and escapades occur.
"This Is Why We Fight" – The Decemberists
As his travels continue, Isaiah is able to find more direction in life, a sense of purpose. Finally able to put his personal problems aside, Isaiah finds others to help throughout his travels, and figures out why he does what he does. Essentially, this is the song that plays during the "Isaiah kicks vermin booty" montage.
"Life is Beautiful" – Vega4
Returning to the Abbey, weathered and weary, Isaiah retires in contentment. He spend his days tending to the Abbey grounds but mostly as a friend and mentor to the dibbuns. For the first time, Isaiah is able to find peace at his beloved Abbey, and he's earned it.
"My Way" – Frank Sinatra
Isaiah's swan song: peace made with his parents, content, and just a little bit full of himself. He has no regrets anymore, and proves such as he makes preparations for his body to be buried besides his mother's.
