Name:
Vernados the Saber
Species:
Badger
Gender:
Male
Dibbun Weapon:
Magnificent Wit
Adult Weapon:
“Saber of the Seas” forged by his father Mandaquil. The reason why it’s the “Saber of the Seas” is because his father used to sail a lot, so the sword he forged for himself contained a lot of sea patterns. It has a teardrop shaped pommel, a curved guard with swirling line patterns carved delicately, and a hilt with wave patterns. It's blade, has light carving patterns, of the wind.
Appearance: Vernados is not like most big like most badgers, instead he is about the same size as every
other beast in the Abbey. He has no preference for clothing, although he likes to dress formally most of the time. He has multiple white stripes going from his head down his body, that are not to thick.
Personality: Vernados was really smart, but is also a smart aleck, hence his dibbun weapon being magnificent wit. Vernados was really shy throughout his dibbunhood, and got nervous over everything, especially meeting new beasts. He grew out of it when he was older. Vernados was very kind to the dibbuns, because he loved seeing them play and being happy. Vernados’s mood, almost all the time was positive, but when he was sad, he stayed in a unjoyful mood for a few days.
History: Vernados were born at Salamandastron to Mandaquil the Saber, ruler of Salamandastron, and his wife Valithe. Vernados had a twin sister named Marion, who was a great sibling that Vernados loved dearly. The only problem was that Marion was into war, battles, and fighting, while Vernados hated those kind of things. When Vernados and Marion were just three seasons old, they were forced to start in battle training because Mandaquil strongly believed that they would become the strongest beasts in the land if they started as early as possible. They didn’t learn how to use swords or anything like that, but they were taught what movements to use, and how to disarm otherbeasts. Vernados quickly became bored, disgusted to the description of what their hare trainer was talking about, and begged Valithe to quit training. Valithe hated to see Vernados so melancholy and sulky, so she agreed to force him out of training. As life went on for another half-season, Vernados had nothing to do, except listen to otherbeasts talking about war. Day by day, he was getting to see Marion less, which made him very lonely. Mandaquil and Valithe talked to eachother, and Valithe came up with a solution, which was, sadly the best solution possible to make Vernados happy. It was to send him away, to a place Valithe knew about, called Redwall Abbey. Redwall Abbey had everything that Valithe knew Vernados would like. Valithe explained everything to Vernados, assuring him that it would be the best place for him. Mandaquil ordered a responsible hare to escort Vernados to Redwall, and to carry a parting gift, which was Mandaquil’s “Saber of the Seas”. Mandaquil knew Vernados would take good care of the sword, and not use it recklessly, as Mandaquil had taught Vernados. When Vernados and the hare reached the Abbey, Vernados instantly knew that he would like it. He heard the bustling of small dibbuns playing, and a lovely aroma that smelled like scones, and ran to the gates, as fast as his small paws could take him, and walked into the fields of Redwall. Vernados loved everything he saw, except for all the other beasts. He tried to find the hare that escorted him, but the hare was already gone. So much for responsibility, Vernados thought. As he was being introduced to everybeast, Vernados eased up a bit, but was still nervous. As the seasons past, he became friends with almost all the dibbuns, though it took a very long time for Vernados to warm up to them. As he grew up, he grew out of his shyness and hate for battle related things. He taught himself strategies of swiftness, and used his father’s sword to practice cutting apples off the trees for the dibbuns. Most of the grownbeasts disagreed with what he was doing, but the dibbuns thought it was a hoot, catching apples raining from the “sky”. Every season he would trek back to Salamandastron to visit his parents and Marion, and tell them about all the happenings at the Abbey. When he was considered an “Elderbeast” he liked to take care of the dibbuns, and educate them in a fun way, but also spoiled them pretty badly, which the Abbot did not agree to.
