Name: Jake "Green" Spike
Species: Hedgehog
Heavy Book (dibbun weapon): One of a few possessions left with Jake. The book titled Jigs for Hurdy Gurdy* is a rare illustrated manual for the instrument known as the Hurdy Gurdy. The book describes the history, tools, materials & methods for the construction, maintenance and playing of the instrument.
*Hurdy Gurdy are stringed instruments not to be confused with the Hardee Gurdee played by Dorothea Duckfontein Dillworthy or indeed a Haredee Gurdee played by Bellscut Oglecrop Obrathon Ragglewaithe Audube Baggscut (Boorab) The Fool.
Axe (adult weapon): To construct a quality Hurdy Gurdy a number of sharp wood working tools are required. Jake was gifted an Axe his own height as a dibbun for this purpose. Now as a hedgehog of many seasons it is his oldest friend. Jake can no longer remember who gifted it to him as he wandered Mossflower Woods but it was found on him with his book and satchel by Redwall folk.
Appearance (dibbun): As a dibbun Jake was a short squat fellow, fur and spikes a dark brown. Beetle black eyes and a wiggly twitching snout that was constantly running. While young, Jake was prone to sickness and spent much time in bed. In-between sickness and health Jake gained size but not height. He wobbled and looked comical in comparison to his friends who were most of the time out of bed running about. He sports green dungarees or smock and green twine in his spikes. The green twine would remain for all his days.
Appearance (adult): In Jake's adult years he retained his girth and sported a great green waxed homespun tunic tied with a brown hemp cord. His axe which as a youngster matched him in height now only comes up to his waist and sits in a red girdle. Jake carries a large haversack with all manner of oddments attached to it and stored within also.
Personality (dibbun): Jake is known as a quiet, reflective sort who enjoys books and the company of elders. He is fascinated by pictures and stories. Not quite a loner but lacking the boisterous nature of many of his companions. A calm hedgehog who tends to stay back a bit, never the first to leap into things.
Personality (adult): As an adult Jake is quietly intelligent though lively in debate. He has an untroubled, ponderous gait when he walks wether he is heavily burdened or with nought but a walking stick. When remarked on by other creatures of Mossflower's woods & streams he is known for good humour and hospitality.
