I so totally didn't steal this from a poll on Zeta.. This is completely random and unprecedented, and I probably shouldn't be taking away from RPing time, but I had a spontaneous brainwave! How did you get your character's names? Thin air, except for Riv's clan name. Riverstream- I originally wanted Riverstar or Riverstreak, but they were both taken. Decided to be redundant and pick 'stream' for the second bit. I actually don't terribly like this name, but it's not bad, and Riv as a nickname sounds really unique and ninja (to me.) Apparently Riv is a boy's name, but I've never met anyone named Riv.. and as for me being a girl? Bleh on that. Too bad. Wildlough- Need I say more? Went through a list of otter clan names, picked the classic. Riana- Went through an obsession with having characters with R, I, and A, in it.. Riana, Rialana, Ria, Rhia, you name it, I had it. Ended up with Riana, which sounds vaguely ok. My old alt Streamflyer- er.. a combo of what I wanted for Riv, and the fact that it was.. er.. River/stream/flyer. The River Stream Flyer, you know? I used to put my login name as River & Stream, which actually sounded cool. Hmm.. but I hated him and the name wasn't that great, so, *shoves into a corner*

I am choosing to answer "other!" ;D Aquamarine wasn't the name I originally had in mind -- she would have been Amber, but the name was taken. I was at a complete loss for another name, so I asked for ideas and a leader (I don't remember whom, unfortunately) suggested another gemstone. I'd actually completely forgotten than Amber was a gemstone at the time, since I just thought of it as a name. I chose Aquamarine from the list of suggestions. I'm glad I chose Aqua now -- Amber is a different character in my head, and Aqua is the better one, I think. Probably because she's had more time to develop as a character, and I've put more effort into creating her character, too. As for Garnet, I wanted an alt and wasn't all that creative. Hence another gemstone. Sometimes my junior high self annoys me. ^^' Oh well. I guess it's not that bad. Could be worse, anyway.

Other... definitely other.
I tried five different names before I decided on Isaiah, because the others were all taken. I don't want to reveal any personal details, but Isaiah is a name that is very, very similar to someone I know. So, the name was pretty uncreative.
Reby... It just sounded cool.
Artemis... I love the Artemis Fowl series, and like Reby, Silverstream just sounded cool.

Other, in the sense that I wasn't really sure how to work out what I'd done But here we go: Burfle - Shamelessly pillaged from Burfal and Buffle in the books (They got stck in my head) and so I looked for a different spelling which would opefully give the same pronunciation as Burfal (That is how I pronounce Burfle, except it's slightly more like Burr-full. I don't know if that's ever caused any confusion, but unless your're french I thought it wouldn't ;D) Ashwood was thought up as a squirrely surname Brookfill - Taken roughly from Brookflow and then roughed around a bit until I got Brook-fill (Brook for Brook, fill for....fill) Streamdog, I decided on one of the less recognised clan names, and then found about a million other streamdogs in the DAB name list, but I went through with it. Ex alt Duckpaw - My least favourite name, and possibly least developed character too, Duckpaw's name was fashioned from his boxing ability. Scoffbag was a surname I still hang my head in shame at, as I don't really like the names like that, so I instead tried to think of it as an adopted nick-sur-name or something Madrigal - Possibly my favourite name. Taken for two reasons; One it sounds really nice (to me anyway), and two it's very close to the name I would have been called if I were a girl (Marigold btw). Viscaria was taken technically from another character of mine from another series fandom, but it was taken from searching a list of plants until I found one that seemed like it would make a nice name. Rosewood is just a standard name, but sounded nice (again, to me anyway)

I chose the species first, then the characteristics came flooding in from nowhere. Next thing you know, Juno Swiftblade and Latika Samhar were born.

Dartpaw Quickspear: As a baby he caught an arrow right out of the air. So with his quick paw reflexes he was called Dartpaw (But mainly that I was calling Arrows and Darts as the same thing back then) And he's really fast with a spear. Daiwa: A brand of one of my Dad's ham radios ;D ;D (Characters I stopped using) Riverquick: An otter that swims really fast (Explains itself) Tundo Molpin: I have no idea... picked it out of nowhere. Deathblade the Pitiless: An assassin who is deadly with a blade and pitiless. I think I'll make a new character, I never RP'd a female before

Kryl's name was a play on "cruel." When I first joined I got quite a kick out of having a good vermin character. And I knew a language in which "y" makes an"oo" sound, and I forgot that that doesn't work in English. Vel's name is wholly Latin. Her first and last name stuck together mean "quicksilver."

Scarth was created through much thought. I was thinking up names for some freinds and myself. "S" kept reappearing. Sarth didn't seem full enough so I put in a silent "c" or with the "s" sound. As for his last name it pretty much explains itself. Hares are swift so Swiftstep works pretty well. I'm thinking of making another character. Possably an otter or a squirrel.

My name came from this dream I had and I wrote this story and added to my dream but I had to come up with a name from an otter that had not been used. I thought about it for hours even asked scarth for a solution. Then to find my name I just started typing random letters and it formed from there. I use my last name because of this MMO game I was playing. I could not the right sound for my character and then I came upon sea and then later paw. I thought okay I will do that and that is how I came to be, Cause of a Dream.

When I was thinking of a name for my Redwall character it came to me Samoto. Even though there are a lot of Sams in Redwall books I made mine different so it would be special. I choose "Made out of thin air. (waves hands around.)"

-Kendra Onuvar (I always liked the name Kendra for a weasel)
In a early draft of a sequel for a novel I was writing, I had a weasel family Japanese mafia. One of the leaders was a female weasel/ninja named Kendra who wore a large earring. I basically just took that character and made her into a dibbun here.
With Onuvar. I have no idea, it sounded cool. Though the character from my book had a different last name.
