What's this? A new activity?
Character Red Carpet is a rapid-fire open interview of whoever posts next! In each post, one of your characters has to answer the question in the previous post. Then, you pose a new question for whoever wants to answer next! A quick and easy way to get some insights into our characters. Prompts can be as serious or fun as you want. I'll start us off with the first question:
What is your favorite Redwall Abbey meal?

Ohhh, new activity! Answering this one with... *literally rolls dice* Kaede.
"Ah... My travels have not taken me there, though I have heard it spoken of highly by other creatures, especially in terms of foods. I have, however, developed a fondness for the large variety of teas and baked goods I have tried in these lands. I did not know such variety existed."
Next question... What's your favorite location in Mossflower country?

Took a leaf from Crystal's book and rolled a die to choose. Dibbun Brooky is the result so here we go!
"My favouritest place in all'a Mossflower is by tha river. Auntie Holly calls it 'Shrimper's cove' cos she says it's the best place fer gettin'em. She took me there at th'end of Spring an' we both swam a lot. There's this big, big tree wiv it's roots that go into the water, an' you can climb all over it too. Hehe, auntie Holly said I was like an ottersquirrel the way I was climbin' an' swimmin'."
Next question: What's the scariest situation you've been in?

*rolls dice* Riki!
"Scar'est? Huh... North coas' part o' Mossflower sees sum real dreadfu' storms. Gettin' stuck at sea 'round there wit' no port nearby ain't somethin' I want a secon' round of... Wai', no. Worst prolly was when liddle Alex was jus' a tiny scrap o' fur, an' he slipped off'a some docks. Crew was sayin' I mus' be part otter fer weeks after, wha' wit' how quick I went in after 'im, but what else are ya sup'osed to do when your liddle un takes a dip? Started workin' on 'is swimmin' the next day, poor liddle pun'kin." **from a small distance away, a faint, embarassed protest of 'Daaaad, stooop!' can be heard**
Next question: Who is your favorite Mossflower hero of old?

Welp, if no one else is going to snap it up. Another dice roll...dibbun Maddy!
I like the heroes who were clever more than the ones who were good at fighting. I've read lots of different scrolls and books from the library, and I think that Abbess Germaine was always one of the wisest. And if you're going to say that she doesn't count then I'd say that I think being a good leader and wisely guiding everybeast from their old abbey and helping out during the war against Kotir is enough to be considered a hero.
Next question: If you could have a conversation with any figure from Redwall's history, who would it be?

No dice required over here, an old Zeke's taking this one.
"Well that's a tall order, ain't it? Any figure... I s'pose it's a bit cheatin', since it's before the Abbey an' all, but the scrolls are in the Gatehouse so I think it still counts. Martin's father, Luke. I think we'd have a fair bit to chat about, but I s'pose... I s'pose I'd want to know if it was worth it. He got his vengeance, didn't he? It's somethin' every beast has to decide for themselves, when they choices like ours. But I wonder if he had regrets about what he left behind."
Next question: If you couldn't stay at Redwall, where in the world would you choose to live?

Dice say Crys, but choosing little Crys since, well, adult Crys answer is obvious!
"Ohhh, that's fun! Uhhh... Mama says the far north can be hard to live in, but I like when it snows, so I wanna see it. Maybe beasts there are just grumpy cause they're hungry? Can't grow much if it snows all the time. I'd take snacks, and everybeast would feel better, right? Or, uhm... Salaa-... Salamandi-... The badger mountain! Where the Long Patrol live. The books about all of them are real interesting, cause they fight all the bad guys. I'm not a hare, but do ya think they'd let me in? Papa says they've got a big forge there for making stuff outta metal; maybe one day Papa will go so he can show the badgers how to make better metal stuff with their forge, and I can go too!"
Next question: Where do you think is the scariest place in Mossflower country? Why?

Alrighty, just getting back into RPing stuff, how about an explanation from good old Teenager Thorn.
"Erm...Well, y'know those old doomwyte caves, yes the ones still standing, yes. Don't take the gray and yellow powder in my toolkit, yes, of course they explode, what doesn't? And chuck them down the tunnels, then throw your torch down there. What? No, that's not oddly specific, anyone could be looking for those doomwyte stones! How? My theory is that something from that noxious old throne room seeped into those caves, and it does something, with the powders and the torch, because that night those caves were burning green fir-wait a minute, was that to bait me into confessing to sneaking out of the abbey? well irresponsible yourself you old codger, I'm old enough!"
Yikes, we won't be hearing from Thorn in a while, In the meantime, If you were thrown into a horde of vermin with one other abbey member, who would it be and why have you decided to trust them with your life?

Kaede for this one!
"Ah... hm. I know some little about it, but... I have heard some tales of the history of these lands. I fear that many of the Abbey's figures would not open their arms to me, but... Your Champions, I suppose? Martin, Matthias, whichever. Those here speak of them with reverence, so I imagine it would be my highest chance of survival, to have an esteemed fighter at my back. Though... Do you mean a living creature? Perhaps in that case, one of your healers. Those of us who learn the craft also learn of poisons. The best fight is one that never sees the drawing of arms; end such a creature before they can become a threat."
Next question: What is one skill you wished you would have learned, or one you want to be better at?

Zeke's back!
"Hoo boy, there's a lot I wish I learned, honestly. Don't let Dibbun me catch wind o' this, but I wish I spent less time skippin' Abbey School and more time listenin'. I let a fair bit of useful information slip through my paws. If I had to pick one, though... I wish when I was a young'un I paid a bit more attention when the Infirmary Sister was talkin' about identifyin' and gatherin' plants for medicines and things. Had to learn a bit more on the fly than most beasts would consider healthy. Thought it was borin' and beneath me, but turns out it kin get life'n'death pretty quick."
Next question: You and some mates were up to no good. You've been caught by an Abbey elder, but your pals escaped. What mischief were you making, and what threat would it take to get you to rat out your accomplices?

Young Barkfur's Nabbing this un'
"Ummm, well....uh...I'd be most likely nabbin' the strawberries from the garden while Brother Matthew wasn't lookin with me mateys! Them strawberries are very good during de summer, all the better for me to steal with my matesl! Then me mates would run when Brother Mathew would turn (In the plan I told them not to run), and Brother Matthew would nab me while I called after them to wait up... Then I'd most likely end up in the gatehouse, with a scolding down my throat and a choice between extra abbey school hours, and selling my mates out. Normally I'd help a friend out and not tattle, but oh, that's when I wade in the pond...And like that, they're scrubbing the dishes while I'm scrubbing my hands from the mud pies I made. Look, I feel really bad, but thosebeasts should've listened to my plan."
Well I think I wrote a bit too much cunning into Young Barkfur you see, but have at you with my questions three one. You are thrown into the Redwall Library for being too rambunctious with your friends. What is the first thing you grab to pass the time?

Next question: Of all the Mossflower villains of old, who is your favourite and why?

Using an old Crys for this one, since she's bookish enough to know them. And a sort of grey answer!
"Mmm, the ferret I think... What's his name? Vall? Ah, Veil. Now, I'm not saying I agree with the things he did - course not - but... A portion of the Abbeybeasts treated him like he was different than the rest of them, because he was vermin." **Crystal appears cross for a moment, then tired and resigned.** "Can hardly blame a beast for developing wicked ways if they're treated unfairly for something they can't help, I think. If you don't care for a sword, you can't be surprised when it rusts."
Next question (maybe inspired by the referenced book, lol)!: You see another beast being punished for doing something wrong. You know what they did was wrong, but the punishment seems unfair. What do you do?

Post by Otus Shortwing on Oct 2, 2021 22:15:14 GMT -5
You see a sleek owl with tall eartufts and slate-blue beak and talons step up to bat. It's Otus!
"If there be anything I know, it's that ye don't want t' get caught doin' something ye shouldn't. An' if yer caught, yer best hope is that yer matey distracts the abbess so ye kin make an escape! I'd fly in th' window and flap in the punisher's face until me mate could dash out."
Okay, definitely don't let Otus teach morality to the young 'uns. Vermin approach the abbey. Your weapon is nowhere to be seen. What ordinary abbey item do you take up to use as a makeshift weapon?

**A taller, fairly muscular ferret meanders into the room, no armor to be seen, only his tunic and pants. It's the outsider, Stanwick!**
"I'd imagine anythin' could do, but I will say that I've had a fair amount of success with a chair. Or a bottle... or a fork."
Likely best not to let any dibbuns take inspiration from the ferret, certainly a bad influence! On rainy and stormy days, what do you do to keep yourself occupied within the Abbey?
